The belief that deposits of endometriosis cause severe pain resulted in many operations being devised to remove or destroy endometriosis. Laser, diathermy, ultrasound have all been used to destroy endometriosis BUT there is very little evidence that they have sustained benefit for the patient.
The only randomised study was conducted by Professor Chris Sutton in Guildford, Surrey. It showed some benefit for six months though little, if any, benefit beyond this. If your pain arises from injured or abnormal nerves then there seems little merit in this approach in most circumstances. There may be some, rare, circumstances where it can be helpful.
The risk-benefit ratio for this type of surgery is further diminished by its complications. It is difficult. It requires extensive training. It is expensive. Many surgeons base much of their clinical practice on these techniques.
You should be very clear about the reasons for submitting yourself to this kind of surgery. What is your doctor trying to achieve ? What is the evidence to support his approach ? What can you expect as an outcome ?
There is no branch of surgery where it is more reasonable to obtain a second opinion before submitting yourself to such surgery. Ask another doctor.
